Mr. Pugsly and the Treat Snatching

For my first Design Assignment of the week, I decided to complete the required option This Assignment is Suspect!.

Have you ever seen those crime shows that organize a case using a suspect board? Like Scandal or Blacklist? Well, that’s exactly what this assignment is. You will create a suspect board (or a board that connects different characters) to show interaction between the people. Feel free to add text, objects, and locations that connect to the people/characters to develop the story even more. Make sure that the board clearly shows how the pieces are connected, and in your post, explain the story behind it. A good example is one completed by Julia James using Microsoft Word by inserting text boxes and connecting them with lines.

Mr. Pugsly, an innocent little pug, acquired a rare, European bag of treats after a successful sale at his 9-5 job at Petsmart. This was a Thursday. After stashing his winnings away Thursday night, Mr. Pugsly slept peacefully, dreaming of enjoying his international delicacy the next morning. Friday morning came, and the treats were missing! Mr. Pugsly searched his home high and low, hoping to recover his lost treasure but found nothing. He quickly informed authorities and they scoped out the scene.

After much interview and deliberation, the authorities have two prime suspects: Pam the Poodle and Miss Yorkie Mae. Through conversation with the neighborhood, police discovered that Pam the Poodle has been convicted in the past of malicious treat snatching. They need to investigate her further. Another suspect is Mr. Puglsy’s ex-girlfriend, Miss Yorkie Mae. Friends say the relationship did not end well. Miss Yorkie Mae seems prime for treat snatching given her emotional state. Authorities are out now to get the suspects’ alibis.

Monday morning, it has been a long weekend of searching for evidence and drafting alibis. Pam the Poodle checks out, photographic evidence places her at a family wedding the night of the treat snatching. Still awaiting conversation with Miss Yorkie. She seems to have left town for a couple of days.

Tuesday evening, authorities obtain search warrant for Miss Yorkie Mae’s home. Through searching, they discover treat samples shockingly similar to those stolen from Mr. Pugsly’s home. In the middle of the search, Miss Yorkie returns home, scared to find police in her house! She tries to run, but they are too quick for her. The authorities take Miss Yorkie to the station, confirming that the treats in her home are in fact those which belong to Mr. Pugsly. Miss Yorkie Mae is sentenced to intense obedience school for her jealous heart and hateful crime.

I made this image via Pixlr. You can check previous posts like No Smiling at this Party and Drawing the Line Somewhere for detailed instructions on how to use Pixlr and its many features.

As and English major, I pride myself in my imagination and writing. I came up with this story pretty quickly. I had a great time completing this assignment, and I learned a lot more about using Pixlr such as how to resize layers and how to add a new image via its url. I hope you’ve enjoyed both the written text and the visual representation of my crime story!
